[Do you know] Google lost ownership of Google.com for a minute
Google have lost some money last year after it realized that it lost the ownership of Google.com and regain it in a while.
Being a webmaster, I have to keep renewing all my web hosting space contracts and domain name ownership.There are chances that I may lose my domain name if I loose track.
Former Google employee Sanmay Ved purchased Google.com for $12 at September 29 midnight eastern time. He purchased that through the google domain registration service soon afterthe company failed to renew it’s ownership on that domain.
He owned Google.com domain for one minute. Google have cancelled the registration and reacquired the ownership. The company had paid Ved $6,006.13 as per the google’s security blog post but the real numbers are still not clearly stated.
microsoft faced the same issue in 2003 loosing theownership of hotmail.co.uk.
